You know, I didn't realize I had actually met him until I saw his picture. I'm assuming it's the same Sean Smith that I met in 2006 in Israel. I was part of a Marine unit helping to evacuate Americans during the 2006 Israeli-Lebanon conflict. He's been a likable guy, and we'd hit it off even as we worked to get people out. It was pretty stressful, but he kept a chipper attitude, and I must say he was well-liked by the Marines I was with. Our Gunny at the time was a hardass who didn't like civilians, but when you saw a civilian helping to hulk around a 240G machinegun so the place is better protected, you give him the benefit of the doubt. Gunny liked ribbing on that guy in particular. "Stop ******* around with the civvies, lance corporal!" he'd yell at me. I'd affectionately tell Gunny to do something anatomically impossible, which would usually be met with a flash of the bird.
I'm saddened by this news. In fact, I'm pretty pissed over this whole ordeal. The last time Libyans did something liek this, ti was at the behest of the government and a plane was destroyed over Scotland. I can only hope Obama does the right thing here and takes a page out of Reagan's book...

Semepr fi, bud. Agreed 100%. After the Marine barracks in Lebannon were bombed, Reagan pushed for a bigger aid package, because a strong, capable government is the best hope of reining in the extremists. Reagan was a smarter president than many give him credit for.
No. I want him to bomb the **** out of Libya. I want him to remind people why you don't ******* attack diplomatic missions, because when you decide to attack diplomacy, you get war. |

I did, in fact, start a petition for it. It needs a lot more support from the community!

The banner needs to be changed to "Rest in Peace", not "Rest in Piece". |
